Licensing

Every WorkshopSkill folder ships free under CC BY 4.0: run it in paid workshops, print unlimited copies, adapt it, translate it, rebrand it. The whole price is one attribution line. Two paid tiers exist for the cases where that line is the obstacle — Tier 1 covers a single named event or product listing, Tier 2 buys it out for one organization. Nothing in the free tier moves when a paid tier is used.

Tier 0 — CC BY 4.0, free and staying free

This is what every visitor gets without asking, paying or signing up. It is not a trial of the paid tiers: the free originals are the same files, same versions, same print specs.

  • Run it for money. Paid workshops, coaching sessions, keynotes, internal training — unlimited runs, unlimited participants, no per-seat fees.
  • Print without counting. As many copies of the workbook, answer sheet, prop cards, poster and slide deck as your rooms need.
  • Edit and rebrand. The deck is HTML, so its three rebrand spots (logo, palette, wslink) are right in the file — edit them in place. PDFs are print-ready, not editable in place.
  • Translate it. Add any language you need; the folders themselves ship in three.
  • Build on it. Extend the activity, write variations, feed the measure JSON into your own tools — the format is plain, there is no lock-in.

The entire price: keep an attribution line — WorkshopSkill · CC BY 4.0 or a link to workshopskill.com — on what you distribute, and note what you changed if you edited it.

Tier 1 — single event or product listing

For one specific engagement where the attribution requirement is a deal-breaker: a corporate client whose legal team will not approve third-party credit on materials, or a marketplace bundle sold under your brand alone.

  • Covers one named event or one product listing, declared in the invoice line.
  • No attribution required on the materials for that event or listing.
  • Includes the print masters as delivered (cards at poker spec, poster at A3) plus one round of help with the white-label swaps.
  • Does not transfer the activity's IP: the name and materials stay WorkshopSkill's; you license their use.

Tier 2 — organization license

For training companies, consultancies and L&D departments that will run or resell the kits repeatedly under their own brand.

  • Unlimited events and listings within one organization, including subcontracted facilitators working for you.
  • Perpetual — no renewal, no seat count.
  • Editable print sources for the card deck and poster on request, and priority on updates.
  • Attribution requirement waived organization-wide.

How to request a paid tier

Mail hello@workshopskill.com with three lines — the reply carries the terms and the invoice details:

  • Folder name — the slug you downloaded, e.g. the-orange.
  • Event or organization — what it is for, and which listing it covers if Tier 1.
  • Tier — 1 (single event/listing) or 2 (organization).

Every folder also ships its own plain-language license file (<folder>-license.md) with the same three tiers spelled out, so the terms travel with the materials instead of living only on this page.

What never moves

Browsing, downloading, printing and scoring stay anonymous and free — no account anywhere on this site, and no tracking script. Paid tiers do not unlock content: they remove a legal obstacle for one buyer. The free originals keep landing in the same drawer, in the same versions, and a folder that has been licensed out never loses its CC BY copy.

Questions people ask

Do I need permission to run a folder in a paid workshop?

No. CC BY 4.0 already allows commercial use, unlimited runs and unlimited participants. Put the attribution line on what you hand out and you are done.

What exactly is the attribution line?

WorkshopSkill · CC BY 4.0, or a link to workshopskill.com, on the materials you distribute — footer of a handout, closing slide, course page. If you edited the activity, note the change. That is the complete obligation.

If everything is free, why do Tier 1 and Tier 2 exist?

Because some buyers cannot carry the line even though they are allowed to: a legal team that will not approve third-party credit, or a listing sold under one brand alone. The paid tiers sell the removal of that obstacle, not access to content.

Does buying a tier take anything away from the free tier?

No. Tier 0 stays exactly as free as it was, the files and versions stay shared, and the activity's IP stays with WorkshopSkill — a paid tier licenses use, it does not transfer ownership.
