Workshop skills in Zed

Zed's assistant reads AGENTS.md as standing instruction and can host external agents over ACP — including agents with a real skills directory. The drawer below works for both halves: one folder of bundles, one paragraph of instructions.

AGENTS.md

AGENTS.md

# Workshop drawer skills/ holds Agent-Skill folders from https://workshopskill.com. Prep requests: match the brief against each SKILL.md metadata, open only the match, run its commands as printed, answer from the folder — not from memory. The live-measure step needs my OK.

When you want full skill loading

Run Claude Code as an ACP agent inside Zed and install the same bundles into ~/.claude/skills/: Zed becomes the editor, the hosted agent becomes the loader, the drawer stays one shared directory. The Claude Code walkthrough covers the install lines.

Notes

  • Keep AGENTS.md short. It is every-session context; the skill files are the on-demand knowledge.
  • Terminal tool on. The curl steps and the unzip are the install; without shell approval the pattern degrades to paste-and-read.
  • Everything is plain files — which is the point: the same drawer serves Zed today and another agent next year.

questions

Does Zed match skill descriptions itself?

The hosted model does, guided by AGENTS.md — no loader needed, no matching lost: the metadata fields are the same ones a loader would read.

Can I edit SKILL.md in Zed?

Yes; it is markdown. Fork it, restyle it, keep attribution — CC BY 4.0.

Do bundles work with Zed's open-source agents?

Any agent that can read files in the project — yes. That is the whole install story for Zed: files are the interface.
