Workshop skills in Trae
Trae's agent works from project rules and a real file system — which is all a WorkshopSkill bundle asks for: keep the folder in the project, add one rule that points at it, let the agent run the printed commands.
Install into the project
Trae's rules live in .trae/rules/project_rules.md; keep bundles under skills/ so paper and instructions stay together:
fetch a bundle
cd my-training-workspace && mkdir -p skills && cd skills curl -LO https://workshopskill.com/en/activities/common-ground/files/common-ground.zip unzip common-ground.zip # -> common-ground/SKILL.md + printables + manifest
One rule for the whole drawer
Rules are always-on context, so keep it a pointer, not a copy:
.trae/rules/project_rules.md (section)
## Workshop prep Skills live in ./skills/<name>/ (Agent Skills format, from https://workshopskill.com). On a prep request: match the brief against each SKILL.md metadata (category, group_size, duration_minutes, setting), read only the winner, run its curl steps as printed, and ask before any formlm-cli login step.
First run
Brief it like a colleague: icebreaker, 16 people, 15 minutes, nobody knows each other
. Trae reads common-ground's SKILL.md, fetches the prop cards, scales the scoring engine to four groups, and warns you the activity eats its full 15 only when the verification round is enforced — a fact lifted straight from the run sheet.
Troubleshooting
- Rules ignored? Check the file is
project_rules.mdunder.trae/rules/, and that you are inside the project folder when chatting. - Agent re-reads every skill? The rule says match-then-read-one; if it still scans all, narrow the rule to your active categories.
- Chinese interface? Use the zh bundles — descriptions and instructions are localized, filenames in Chinese.

questions
Does Trae have a native skills loader?
Not as of writing — the rules-plus-folder pattern above is the faithful equivalent: description matching lives in the rule, knowledge lives in the SKILL.md.
Can Trae print the prop cards for me?
It can open and copy the PDFs; printing is your side of the paper boundary — humans print, agents parse.
Update story?
Swap the directory for a fresh zip; metadata.updated gives the current version and manifest.json lists per-file hashes.
