# Monthly Client Report

The delivery loop on paper: collect once with a fixed checklist, hang every section on three sentences, cut what nobody references, send on a date you defend, and let a keep/stop/start ledger make report five better than report one. For agencies, freelancers and anyone reporting to a client monthly.

## When to use this kit

- The report costs you more hours than it earns trust.
- Meetings start with the client asking what the report should have answered.
- The report keeps getting longer and keeps getting skimmed more.

## What is in the folder

| File | Purpose |
|---|---|
| `monthly-client-report-prop-cards.pdf` | Poker-spec print sheet (63.5 × 88.9 mm, bleed + cut guides): master, data checklist, three-sentence spine, send calendar, cut card, watch-out, backs + blanks |
| `monthly-client-report-run-sheet.pdf` | Print edition: delivery guide + report review bound as one A4 document |
| `*-Letter.pdf` | US Letter paper size for the print documents in this folder — same content, bookmarks and a linked TOC in every edition |
| `monthly-client-report-guide.md` | Delivery guide: the loop, what this is not, the month clock, failure modes, variations |
| `monthly-client-report-debrief.md` | Report review: five leaks, six questions with targets, failure modes |
| `monthly-client-report-license.md` | License in plain language — what you may do, what you must keep |
| `monthly-client-report-activity-poster.pdf` | The whole loop on one A3 desk sheet: spine, cut rules, watch-outs |
| `monthly-client-report-start-here.md` | Start here — pick your lane, file map, print list |

## Running it

Days 1–3: run the data checklist in one pass; gaps get an owner and a date. Days 3–10: each section gets three sentences first — what happened, so what, now what; charts earn their place after. Day 10–12: apply the cut card. Day 12: send on the agreed date, same day every month, no apologies. After the call: keep/stop/start — three lines in the ledger before the laptop closes. Full review every third report.

## Run this activity with an agent

An account owner can hand this whole folder to their AI agent. Install first — one command, and the folder any skills loader can pick up:

```bash
# install the whole skill folder, one command
curl -LO https://workshopskill.com/en/activities/monthly-client-report/files/monthly-client-report.zip
unzip monthly-client-report.zip   # -> monthly-client-report/SKILL.md + all files + manifest
```

The zip unpacks to a directory named `monthly-client-report` holding this SKILL.md, every file it references, a manifest.

Individual files, if you only need some — anonymous, CC BY 4.0:

```bash
# 1. Get the printable deck (checklist, spine, cut faces)
curl -O https://workshopskill.com/en/activities/monthly-client-report/files/monthly-client-report-prop-cards.pdf
# 2. Get the report review sheet (five leaks + six questions)
curl -O https://workshopskill.com/en/activities/monthly-client-report/files/monthly-client-report-debrief.md
# 3. Get the delivery guide (the loop, the month clock)
curl -O https://workshopskill.com/en/activities/monthly-client-report/files/monthly-client-report-guide.md
```

Everything above runs with no account and no login.

Useful preparation facts for the agent:
- The data checklist is fixed; ad-hoc asks are how collection becomes a scavenger hunt.
- Every section: what happened, so what, now what — before any chart.
- The send date is agreed once and defended forever; late once is a policy change.
- Bad news gets the first sentence of its section and the first minute of the meeting.
- The report exists to make renewal boring.

**Where to put the skill.** Drop the unzipped `monthly-client-report/` directory into your agent's skills folder and it loads automatically: Claude Code `~/.claude/skills/monthly-client-report/` (or `.claude/skills/` in the project), OpenAI Codex `~/.codex/skills/monthly-client-report/`, Qoder `~/.qoder/skills/monthly-client-report/`. No skills folder in your agent? Paste this file into the chat and ask the agent to follow it. Per-agent walkthroughs: https://workshopskill.com/en/skill-guides/

## Facilitation notes

- Write the meeting's first sentence before the first slide; an empty blank means the month had no story — say so briefly.
- Late data gets the checklist card, not a reminder email — polite architecture beats impolite memory.
- A ten-minute report gets read; a forty-minute report gets resented.
- The "so what" is the invoice; "what happened" is free since last year.
